I'm surprised (but also not surprised) to not see Leith Anderson on the list. Perhaps it's because his title has a bad reputation from the previous appointee.
I'm also surprised to see Roman Catholic representation given the Church's stance on abortion in particular.
Good point Daniel- I didn't even recognize that fact about the Roman Catholic participation.
I suppose there's civil disobedience on the one hand and realistic influence on the other. I think I tend to always involving myself in the process as opposed to disagreement (esp. if it doesn't involve tv appearances).
Yeah, perhaps they're thinking that they can influence the administration better by teaming up rather than just picketing or sending red envelopes on March 31st.
And I'm all for teaming up in the administration, to transform the administration. A long shot, yes, but you'll never know unless you try.
On another note, I hear people talking about how much of a bummer Tony Dungy didn't accept the invitation to be in this council. I'm glad! What experience does this guy have in running any sort of Christian ministry, church, or making a difference in the world OUTSIDE of being a football coach who likes God? I don't think he's nearly as qualified as these others. Having a belief in God doesn't make you qualified to be on a White House special council. They might as well put me in there!

I'm not sure, but I think Dungy actually runs a few non-profits in Indianapolis. So I think he is the director of a few philanthropic (and yes, Christian) organizations there ranging from a big brothers/sisters type of organization to an organization that focuses on developing good parents (esp. in the black community). But again, I don't know for sure, but he has had his hand in something.
